Bronco Players Are Not Invincible

This is not how we want to see one of the star players on the Broncos defense that needs to step it up to live up to the hype of Super Bowl or bust. Elvis Dumervil was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. Dumervil is not the only Bronco that has had a run in with trouble. D.J. Williams is the poster boy of what not to do when trying to pass a drug test. If D.J. Williams thinks he can get away with having "artificial pee" to get away with cheating then what else do these players think they can get away with? Now I know all Bronco fans are thinking well these are two isolated incidents and that it doesn't make the standard for the whole team. Which is true there have been some great people playing for the Denver Broncos including Tim Tebow and newly signed Peyton Manning. However, since 2000 the Broncos are third in arrest with 34, only trailing Cincinnati, who has 37, and Minnesota, which leads with 39. This is a staggering number that should not be taken lightly. Especially with the recent arrest of Elvis. He is facing at least three years in prison, with five years being the usual punishment. Now this trend hasn't just been in Denver it has been around the league. It seems as though NFL players think they are invincible that they don't have to follow the laws that we do. Part of the issue, people surrounding the player. His group of individuals who help him make decisions and also make them feel like they are better than anyone else. I'm not saying that they aren't great athletes who entertains and for some, like me, become a large part of my life. What these players have to understand, children look up to them, they see their favorite team and on that team is their favorite player. When they see that said player out partying and getting arrested they see that kind of behavior is acceptable if you have money. This generation of players grew up in the 90's so they saw players going to jail but, getting out and playing again because those players had enough power and money to get out. So when Elvis, and all the other Bronco players who have gotten in trouble the last decade, got in trouble they have thought I can get out of it. Some have, but most have not. Hopefully all the charges and players who are no longer playing in the league will influence the young players who want to become an NFL player. Only time will tell.

Thanks for reading,

Till next time!
